For now, you can access Beaver Pond through the DEP land (apply for free access permit online and print the vehicle tag). The parcels marked in circles in the map above (screen shot from Ulster County Parcel Viewer) are access points, however, the area marked in green is the preferred choice, as the area in yellow is located on a private road (although with permit, public has the right of way on this road). The shoulder along the road near the green circle area is wide enough for safe parking of more than 10 cars. You need to walk through a swath of wooded area, somewhat unstable with rocks, tree roots, and water, so sturdy boots are recommended. It would be a lot of work to carry kayaks and canoes. The water edge is a bit tricky for both skaters and paddlers.
