#BrooklynTotheCatskills Update. . It’s been 2 years since we stopped paying NYC rent and went all in for a small #upstate town, #LivingstonManor. Our choice was based on a foreclosure house we bought 5 years ago, knowing nothing about the area but not being able to buy anything in the city.
Well, we fell in love w the town as we fixed up that 1st needy house. .
and so we bought another, this time on a lake.
It was a sometimes rough transition but We settled into Nature life and bonfires and even made some friends.

I've been thinking a lot about joy lately and the ways we are conditioned to both seek out small (or big) pleasures in life and then also judge one another for doing the same.

I love fall. I'm that person. But I also love summer. Winter has its moments for me. Spring is my least favorite season as I'll take snow over rain any day and by the time it rolls around I'm just ready for properly warm weather. But for many of my friends, spring is their absolute favorite as billions of birds head North to find breeding grounds each year. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy this annual spectacle as well, but it is the absolute jubilation it brings those I care about that really sells spring for me.

Maybe someone's favorite season is fall because the cooler temperatures and coozier clothing feel best on their bodies. (But because society constantly tells us our bodies aren't good enough and our REAL bodies are only one fad diet and expensive gym membership away they're afraid to admit it.) Maybe someone likes the bone-chilling winds of winter because their child loves snow sports. Maybe someone likes the sweltering temps of summer for reasons that are inconceivable to you.
