Join us in our first annual celebration of art, food, and our majestic land. In this fundraiser for Catskill Waters, you are invited to experience the magic of Chef David Waltuck, owner of the legendary Chanterelle (1979–2009). Chanterelle epitomized the downtown culture at a time when New York City had a community feeling not so distant from that found in the Catskills and Hudson Valley today.

Our guest of honor is Rebecca Martin, a founder of KingstonCitizens.org who raised community awareness about the Niagara Bottling Company’s proposed plan to purchase a large share of Kingston water supply, resulting in the withdrawal of their proposal.

Catskill Waters is about people’s stories from the Ashokan, Rondout, and Neversink watersheds—sources of NYC’s water. Like the complex history and dynamics of the area, our evening will gather people from diverse communities in a rich shared experience.

Inside a historic church in the Catskills, our 4-hour transcendence begins with a cocktail reception featuring an ephemeral installation by Sergey Jivetin, video projection by Dave Hebb, and live electronic music performed by Bob Lukomski.

On display will be several original menus from the Chanterelle art menu collection.

The main event is a 4-course dinner designed and created by David Waltuck, using as much local produce as possible. (Please note: regrettably we cannot accommodate vegan or gluten-free guests at this event)

There will be seven artists seated at each of seven tables. As an homage to Chanterelle’s tradition of commissioning artists to design a menu cover every six months, each artist is creating an original design for his/her table, with the menu itself handwritten by Karen Waltuck, just as she used to do for Chanterelle.

Artists: Beth Humphrey, Alicia Mikles, Norm Magnusson, Margaret Helthaler, Chris Victor, Jenny Lee Fowler, Will Lytle
