I’m always looking for new crab claw feathers, so I ordered some very reasonably priced Turrall necks from chucknduckflytying in the UK. The shipping was shockingly fast and I was very happy with the quality of the necks for the price. I’ve been spoiled tying with mostly Collins hackle, so I had to see how these capes would tie a dry fly. That Badger was just begging to go in a Gordon Variant.

This is a pattern I created 4 years ago. “Le ciel” is a French phrase that translates directly to “the sky” or “the heaven” in English. I decided to make some minor changes to it, and add Redhead Duck for the wings to intensify the speckling to match the cdl pardo.
Sometimes on the river I find myself needing a certain ”Je ne sais quoi” to get the job done, and so this fly comes in at the right time when light colored duns are on the water and needing..something else.
