This productive nymph was designed by John Bonasera or “CJ” to those who know him. John is a Catskill dry fly historian and master fly Tyer in the Catskills. The "Catskill," a century-old Rube Cross pattern with a generic name. Among other things, Cross was known for his meticulous tying. The fall colors with the wood duck wings did it for me.

I’m always looking for new crab claw feathers, so I ordered some very reasonably priced Turrall necks from chucknduckflytying in the UK. The shipping was shockingly fast and I was very happy with the quality of the necks for the price. I’ve been spoiled tying with mostly Collins hackle, so I had to see how these capes would tie a dry fly. That Badger was just begging to go in a Gordon Variant.
